POM (Polyoxymethylene)
POM is a strong, hard, and highly dimensionally stable plastic with very low friction. Its static and dynamic friction coefficients are nearly identical, which virtually eliminates stick-slip effects. In addition, POM offers excellent resilience and high fatigue resistance, making the material suitable for demanding mechanical applications.
The material exhibits excellent dimensional and creep stability, while its wear resistance can be considered average. POM is exceptionally easy to machine thanks to its short-chip cutting properties, enabling accurate and efficient production of components with tight tolerances.
Thanks to its very low moisture absorption, POM is an excellent choice for applications that require high accuracy and consistent performance under varying environmental conditions. Where materials such as PA can deform under the influence of moisture, POM remains stable.

POM is widely used in the manufacturing of precision components, machine parts, gears, bearings, hinges, and various technical applications.
The material stands out when a component requires an accurate shape or fit, or when parts move relative to one another, such as guides or bearing bushings, where low and consistent friction is important.
POM is also widely used within the food industry, thanks to its high dimensional stability and mechanical strength; for food applications, POM is often supplied in a blue colour, so that any material particles can be easily detected visually. POM is less suitable for extreme mechanical loads or temperatures above approximately 100–120°C.
