PA 12
PA 12
PA12 is a high-quality engineering plastic known for its excellent dimensional stability, flexibility, and chemical resistance. The material distinguishes itself from many other polyamides through its low moisture absorption, which allows it to better retain its mechanical properties under varying environmental conditions — where PA6, for example, is more sensitive to moisture, PA12 remains more stable.
Thanks to the combination of toughness and flexibility, PA12 is particularly suitable for applications where components are under load and must simultaneously be able to absorb some deformation. The material continues to perform reliably, even at lower temperatures and under dynamic load. In addition, PA12 offers very good chemical resistance to fuels, oils, greases, and various industrial chemicals, among others, which is why it is widely used in environments involving contact with aggressive media.
Properties and specifications:
- Low moisture absorption for better dimensional stability
- Good flexibility and toughness
- Excellent chemical resistance, including to fuels and oils
- Good wear and sliding properties
- Reliable performance at low temperatures
- Good fatigue resistance under dynamic load
- Widely used in industrial applications

Applications of PA12
PA12 stands out when dimensional stability, flexibility, and chemical resistance are essential, particularly in environments involving contact with fuels, oils, or other aggressive media. Its low moisture absorption also makes the material a good choice when predictable behaviour and stable dimensions under varying conditions are important. Thanks to its good fatigue resistance, PA12 also performs well in components subjected to continuous dynamic loads, such as in pneumatic systems.
Typical applications include:
- Pipes and hoses
- Cable protection
- Seals
- Technical components under dynamic load
Thanks to its stable properties and versatility, PA12 is a widely chosen material within sectors such as industry, transport, pneumatics, and technical installations.
Our possibilities

Food grade certified plastics
Components in the food industry are exposed to cleaning agents and temperature fluctuations on a daily basis. Lakwijk selects materials that can withstand this, ranging from standard POM to high-performance PEEK for the most demanding conditions. This helps prevent deformation, wear, and unnecessary downtime.

Custom material advice
Not every plastic behaves the same way under load, moisture, or heat. Lakwijk knows the properties of commonly used materials such as POM, PA, and HMPE, as well as high-performance plastics like PEEK, PAI, and PTFE. By combining this knowledge with your specific application, we advise a material that isn't just suitable on paper, but also performs well in practice.

All processing techniques in-house
Plastic starts out as sheet or rod material and is processed step by step at Lakwijk into a precise end product. Our operators saw, mill, turn, bend, weld, and glue, depending on what the component requires.
