Thinking along and providing technical advice
Lakwijk does not supply standard end products. We trade in semi-finished plastics (sheet, rod, tube) and manufacture custom components — from single pieces to large series.
We are often involved early in the development phase. At that stage we can provide advice based on material properties and practical experience, helping keep options open and avoiding unnecessary costs.
Material advice depends on many factors: chemical resistance, wear and impact strength, weight, smoothness, UV resistance and colour. Once suitable materials are identified, we consider availability, machinability, price and standard sizes. Efficient use of material and lifespan of both the product and its counterpart are also important.
If the best solution turns out to be metal, wood or glass, we will say so — although advances in plastics make this less common. Lakwijk knows what plastics can do and how they behave in practice. Thinking along with the customer and providing technical advice — both requested and proactive — is a core part of our value.
