Sustainable use of plastic materials
Sustainability is an important topic in the plastics industry. For example, the manufacturers Lakwijk works with are structurally working to increase the lifespan of their plastics.
Plastic production is also becoming more and more circular because recycling is an increasingly large source of raw materials compared to, for example, oil. Also bio-plastics; materials made from natural fibers will continue to develop.
Lakwijk is active in the field of sustainability in two respects. Firstly, when providing technical advice to customers, Lakwijk always asks how plastic parts can be made lighter without sacrificing functionality, and advising on the most sustainable solution for the application is self-evident. Secondly, Lakwijk closely monitors developments in the field of bio-plastics as well as bio-fibers in composites instead of more traditional glass or carbon fibers.
