PVDF
Product Description
PVDF
PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) is a high-performance engineering plastic known for its excellent chemical resistance, high purity and long service life. This fluoropolymer is widely used in demanding industrial environments where aggressive chemicals, elevated temperatures and strict hygiene requirements are critical.
Thanks to its outstanding resistance to acids, bases and solvents, PVDF is highly suitable for use in the chemical industry, water treatment and piping systems. The material has low moisture absorption and excellent dimensional stability, ensuring reliable performance in installations where precision and durability are essential.
PVDF combines good mechanical strength with high temperature resistance, allowing it to outperform many standard plastics in more demanding applications. In addition, the material is easy to weld, making it particularly suitable for constructions and plastic piping systems where strong, leak-tight joints are required.
A key advantage of PVDF is its excellent UV and weather resistance. This makes the material suitable not only for indoor use, but also for outdoor applications with long-term exposure to sunlight and environmental conditions.
PVDF is also widely used in industries where hygiene and purity are essential, such as the food processing and pharmaceutical sectors. Due to its low extractables and ease of cleaning, the material is ideal for applications where contamination must be avoided.
Thanks to this combination of chemical resistance, temperature resistance and durability, PVDF is a reliable choice for technical and industrial applications where performance and lifespan are critical.
Properties and specifications
PVDF offers a strong combination of properties that make it suitable for demanding applications:
- Excellent chemical resistance to acids, bases and solvents
- Good temperature resistance (up to approx. 140–150°C continuous)
- Low moisture absorption and high dimensional stability
- Good mechanical strength and stiffness
- Excellent UV and weather resistance
- High purity and low extractables
- Good weldability (suitable for plastic welding)
- Suitable for long-term use in aggressive environments
Applications
PVDF is widely used in plastic piping systems, tanks, fittings and constructions within the chemical industry. The material is ideal for applications where chemical resistance, durability and safety are key.
It is also commonly used in water treatment, the semiconductor industry and pharmaceutical installations. In addition, PVDF is applied in outdoor applications such as façade systems and protective solutions due to its excellent UV resistance and long service life.
